June Rose of the Month - Bill Warriner

Bill Warriner Bill Warriner (JACsur), Floribunda, Orange-Pink (op)
RIR score: 7.8 out of 10.

Parentage: [Sun Flare X Impatient]
Hybridized by William A. Warriner & Keith W. Zary
Introduced in 1998

'Bill Warriner' has pointed, ovoid buds of a pretty color in the salmon-orange-coral spectrum that open to reveal 3.5 inch flowers with 26-40 ruffle edged petals. Blooms are borne in large, well spaced clusters. Flowers have a slightly sweet fragrance.

The bush has a compact habit to 3 feet, possessing foliage of medium to dark green and semi-glossy. Prickles are moderate and straight.

'Sun Flare' and 'Impatient', the parents, are two roses raised by the late Bill Warriner that achieved the coveted AARS award, and it is very fitting that a seedling bred from them by his pupil Keith Zary should be named in his honor. Bill Warriner, who died in 1991 at the age of 69, is credited with the raising of well over 150 varieties during his 25 years with the Jackson & Perkins company.

ZONES 4-9.
